SOCIAL WORK WITH FOSTER PARENTS, APPLICANTS FOR ADOPTORS AND ADOPTORS. GUIDELINES FOR PREPARATION OF CHILDREN FOR ADOPTION 24-25.06.21

A two-day seminar on “Social work with foster parents, candidates for adoptive parents and adoptive parents. Guidelines for preparing children for adoption” started on June 24. The seminar was carried out under the Operational Program "Human Resource Development" within the "Integrated Trainings for the Administration in Institutions on the Labor Market and in the Social Sphere" and was held in presence at the Center for Human Resources Development and Regional Initiatives with the necessary anti-epidemic measures. It will be attended by social workers from the Social Assistance Directorates of the Agency for Social Assistance from all over the country. The main objectives of the training are: improvement of knowledge and practical skills regarding the application of the legal framework concerning the institution of adoption; deepening the knowledge in conducting research and assessment of the suitability of the candidates for adoptive parents; acquiring new knowledge about the preparation of the child for adoption, the support of the child and the adoptive parents in the post-adoption period; preparation of a monitoring report in the post-adoption period, orientation to social services.
 
The lecturer of the training is Ms. Tsvetanka Bahchevandjieva, Chief Expert at the Social Assistance Agency in the Department of Activities and Measures for Child Protection. She has over 10 years of professional experience in developing guidelines and methodological materials for the implementation of regulations in the field of child protection, including providing methodological assistance and support to the territorial structures of the SAA - Department of Child Protection.
